Clipfile for Chrome, Helium and Brave
There are two Clipfile apps for the Mac. The one on the App Store saves from Safari. This one, downloaded from here, saves from Safari, Chrome, Helium and Brave — press ⌥⌘S in any of them and the whole article is in your list a moment later.

π Who it's for
Anyone who reads in Chrome, Helium or Brave. The article is read out of the page you already have open, in your own logged-in session, so pieces behind a subscription you pay for come through complete — the same as saving from Safari. It needs no browser extension. Everything else is the same app: the ⌥L list, search, notes, the offline reader and sync.
If you only read in Safari, you don't need it. The App Store version does everything you'll use.
𧱠Why it's a separate download
Every app on the Mac App Store has to run in a sandbox, and the sandbox won't let one app ask another browser for the page it is showing — which is the whole of what saving from Chrome, Helium or Brave takes. So this version comes from here instead. Apple notarises it, and it keeps itself up to date.
π³ Two ways to buy, one purchase
The direct version is free for 14 days, so you can try it first. After that it unlocks with a one-time $6.99 purchase, made either here or on the App Store. Either one works on every Mac you use.
Buy it here. Checkout is handled by Stripe. When you've paid, copy the license from the page that follows and paste it into Clipfile with Enter License⦠in Settings. Keep a copy for your other Macs.
Or buy it on the App Store. Buy Clipfile for Mac in the App Store version, or restore a purchase you already made; Family Sharing counts. Then open the download and double-click Clipfile Mac: it replaces the App Store version for you, checks Apple's signed record of your purchase, and unlocks itself.
π What it asks permission for
The first time you save from each browser, macOS asks whether Clipfile may control it (an Automation permission). That is how it asks the browser for the page. Say no, and that one browser can't save; everything else carries on. You can change your mind in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Automation.
βΉοΈ Good to know
Only one Clipfile can be installed on a Mac at a time: the two versions are the same app, and installing one replaces the other. Your list and your sync key carry over. Dia, Arc and Firefox can't be captured by either version. Requires macOS 26.
